Ever feel like life is too serious or that you need to lighten up? When I feel this way, I take a break to do something fun. After all, you know what they say about all work and no play.
If you feel like you can’t remember when you last had fun, you’re definitely due for a break. What do you like to do? Sometimes you may forget if it’s been too long. If that’s the case, consider creating a play list.
Write down a list of fun activities that you enjoy. If you had all the time in the world to spend any way you wanted, what would you do? If you said sleep, then you’re not thinking hard enough – or you’re seriously sleep deprived. We’ll save that for another post.
Some things on my play list include:
- Surfing
- Bicycling
- Sketching
- Reading
- Daydreaming
- Looking at art
- Taking a walk in Central Park
- Going to the beach
I can’t always do everything I want at any time I want, but I always have the option scheduling in an activity for a later date – like going to the beach on the weekend. But something like reading or sketching I can do wherever I want.
After you put your play list together, keep it somewhere where you can grab it when you need it. Don’t forget to play, too. When you play, you recharge your batteries and are better able to concentrate at work, be present with friends and family and sleep better.
